



A 26-YEAR-OLD engineer
allegedly shot his ‘friend’
and himself in New Rajinder Nagar area of central
Delhi on Sunday .
The police said Uma Sharma, also an engineer, had
been avoiding Sanjay Aggarwal for the past couple of
months. On Sunday, he reportedly came from Jaipur
to seek revenge after she
spurned his advances. She
survived with two bullet injuries in her chest, and is recuperating at Sir Ganga
Ram Hospital. He died.
“Both Sharma and Aggarwal hail from Aligarh and
knew each other from college,” said Jaspal Singh,
DCP (central).
“On Sunday afternoon,
Aggarwal went to meet
Sharma at her PG accommodation. He took a bunch
of roses and a country-made
revolver with him. After the
landlord told him that Sharma was not at home, Aggar
wal waited for her.”
The police said Sharma
had gone to appear in a competitive examination for a
job in MTNL.
“When Sharma returned,
Aggarwal asked her about
her exam and then both went
to her room,” said Singh. “A
couple of minutes later the
landlord heard her screams.
Soon, he heard another
scream and rushed to the
room, where found the couple lying in a pool of blood.”
The police said while
Sharma survived miraculously, her friend died on
the spot.

guest accommodation in C

On Sunday she had gone
to take a competitive exami- nation of MTNL and when
she returned, she found Aggarwal waiting for her
Aggarwal asked her about
her exam and entered the
room with her Sharma went
to the bathroom and asked
him to wait, police said.
Sharma told the police
when she came out of the
bathroom he was holding a
gun. "Before I could realize
anything, he opened fire on
me. I collapsed and don't remember anything after
that," Sharma told the police from her hospital bed.
Sharma told police that she was avoiding his calls
and wanted to concentrate
on her career.
"I had even informed my
parents that he was harassing
me. I stopped taking his calls
and on Sunday he landed at
my PG accommodation with
a bunch of roses. He asked me
about my examination and
entered with me in my room,"
Sharma told the police.
Sharma and Aggarwal belong to Aligarh and completed their engineering from
GLA Institute of Technolo- gy and Management. The
police said they knew each
other since college days. After completing her studies,
Sharma got a job at Karol
Bagh and was living here for
the past seven months. Her
father is an oil trader.
Aggarwal was working at
a private firm in Jaipur
The police have seized the
weapon and sent Aggarwal's
body for postmortem.
