Class 8 kids shoot classmate in school
AN American-style campus shooting, two students of a private school in Gurgaon shot dead a classmate as he was about to take the schoolbus home, police said on Tuesday Abhishek Tyagi, a class VIII student of Euro International School in Sector 45, was shot five times from close range on his forehead, chest and shoulder inside the campus. The 14-year-old was declared dead at a private hospital. Police identified the two boys as Akash Yaday, 14, and Vikas Ya- day, 13. They said Akash had brought his father's licensed foreign-made pistol and both boys took turns to shoot Abhishek. The two boys told the police that Abhishek allegedly used to bully them at school because he was of better build. About five days ago, they had a fight and school authorities had intervened and settled the matter. But the two said Abhishek had threatened to kill them. "Before Abhishek could act, Akash brought his father's pistol, which used to be kept unguarded, and hid it in the school toilet. After school (around 2 p.m.), Akash retrieved the pistol and fired at Abhishek," said Mohinder Lal, Gurgoan's commissioner of police. The police said the two boys called out Abhishek from the bus and shot him a few feet away School staff overpowered the two boys and locked them in a room before calling the police. "I was at a different school when the incident took place. As soon as I got information I rushed to the school," said the school's chairman Satyavir Yaday. The police said Akash's father, a property dealer, acted irresponsibly by keeping the pistol unlocked in a TV trolley Gun vio- lence among schoolchildren in India is rare. The case, possibly the first reported in and around Delhi, recalls the situation in the US, where rights activists are campaigning for tougher gun laws to control the problem. DCP Satish Balan said: "We might charge Akash's father under the arms act for reckless handling of weapons." None of the two boys' family members have turned up after the shooting. Vikas's father is also a property dealer Abhishek's father Ravindra Tyagi, a transporter, was too shocked to comment. PLANNED, COLD-BLOODED MURDER 14-YEAR-0LD HID GUN IN SCHOOL TOILET 1 Before leaving for school, Akash takes out his father's pistol kept in a TV trolley and slips it into his schoolbag. He carries it to school. 2 After reaching school, he goes to the toilet before class and hides the pistol there. He does this possibly to avoid suspicion of classmates. 3 After School, Akash and Vikas call out Abbishek from his schoolbus parked inside the school campus. They fire five times at him. Abbishek is declared dead at a hospital.
