Stop the violence, or I quit
Even as Beijing launched a strong verbal assault on the Dalai Lama, the temporal and spiritual leader of Tibetans on Tuesday threatened to resign if the violence in Tibet did not stop.
He appealed to the Tibetan people to remain committed to non-violence. "Should the majority of the Tibetan people want to use violence, I would have no other option but to resign from leading the Tibetan struggle," he told reporters in Dharamsala. He expressed concern over the turmoil in Tibet, but said the situation was gradually improving.
The Dalai Lama spoke after Chinese premier Wen JiaBao blamed him for the violence. "There is ample fact and we also have plenty of evidence - proving that this incident was organised, premeditated, masterminded and incited by the Dalai clique," Wen said at his annual news conference at the end of China's national legislative session in Beijing. "

I fear if the issue of the Tibet is not resolved during the lifetime of His Holiness The Dalai Lama, renowned Nobel peace Laureate, it would send a very negative message not only to the Tibetan people but also to all the people in the world who so much revere the virtue of "Ahimsa". It is well known in the world that the Tibetans in general are peace loving people who have persistently displayed there firm commitment in resolving the issue of TIBET in a non-voilence way .Over the last many years H.H The Dalai Lama have reiterated on numerous occasion around the world that tibetan people are ready to accept genuine autonomy like in the case of Hongkong, A condition that clearly needs the desire of the Chinese govt. to discuss anything other then independence. So I fail to understand where arises a conflict in this situation?
Recently, His Holiness The Dalai Lama has said that except for china everybody in the world knows that Tibet is not seeking independence but genuine autonomy. Therefore, it is very sad and silly to see the Chinese govt. repetitively issue such a misplaced standard statement that H.H.The Dalai Lama is speaking independence and that they are willing to talk anything other then independence everytime. I am a man for peace and like any other person in the planet, I don’t hate Chinese people and also pray for there well being. I would therefore, appeal the Chinese govt. to please desist from such careless approach and show sincere commitment in resolving the Tibet issue peacefully and promptly. I would also like to appeal people around the world and media to inform china that H.H The Dalai Lama is not seeking for independence but genuine autonomy and that the Chinese govt. set a date to initiate a talk with the tibetan people under UN, EU and US supervision as soon as possible.
Before I conclude I would like to remind that to resort violence with bullet and bombs is so much an easier path and it brings lot of attention too. However, thankfully to retaliated violence with violence and seek world focus with the blood of human lives is not the way of the tibetan people. Thus I hope these prolonged peaceful action will not be misconstrued as a sign of weakness but rather viewed as a firm commitment of the Tibetan in upholding the path of “Ahimsa” in the phase of great adversity. The people who are scheming and resorting to suppressing and killing innocent people in Tibet should note that they owe peace and life to the people who have for so long chosen to follow the path of "Ahimsa” and not relied to killing and bombing. Time is running out and His Holiness would not be there forever. So I appeal the Chinese govt. to be sincere in resolving the Tibet issue now.
